VANCOUVER'S 41st MAYOR

MAYOR KEN SIM

Ken Sim is a born-and-raised Vancouverite and a passionate entrepreneur. He graduated from the UBC Sauder School of Business in 1993 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and holds an FCPA (FCA) designation. Ken and his wife, Teena, have built a life in Vancouver with their 4 sons and 3 dogs.

In 2001, Ken co-founded Nurse Next Door Home Healthcare Services. A decade later, alongside his wife and other partners, he launched Rosemary Rocksalt Bagels, a successful local chain with multiple storefronts across the city.

In 2022, Ken made history in being elected as the 41st Mayor of Vancouver, becoming the first Chinese Canadian to hold the position.

Ken is excited to see Vancouver’s transformation into a vibrant, prosperous, safe, and business-friendly city, representing a future of growth and opportunity for all.

Delivering for Vancouver

Public Safety

Over the last four years, we've made critical investments in public safety, delivering the lowest violent crime rate in 21 years. ABC is committed to ensuring law enforcement has the tools and resources they need to fight crime and keep our neighbourhoods safe.

Affordability

We're making Vancouver a more affordable city for residents and businesses alike. By delivering a rent freeze in 2026 and 2027, we're respecting taxpayer dollars and ensuring an efficient, well-run City Hall. Our plan to build more homes faster has helped bring down rents, making life more affordable for everyday Vancouverites.

Back to Community

We're investing in Vancouver's beloved shared spaces and civic assets. That means investing $108M in upgrading roads and sidewalks, and investing $400M to replace five of Vancouver's aging community centres, the largest-such investment in our City's history.

Core Services

At City Hall, we're focused on delivering high quality public services that Vancouverites deserve. That means investing in police, fire and rescue, roads and sidewalks, and community centres, just to name a few. ABC will continue to make progress on reducing red tape and making Vancouver more efficient and effective.

We acknowledge that we live, work, and play on the Unceded Territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

ABC proactively seeks to support and elevate those from traditionally marginalized and underrepresented communities including women, members of the 2SLGBTQAI+ community, indigenous persons, racialized persons, persons living with a disability, immigrants, and those who experience or have experienced economic hardship.
